Seeking to support women and girls in exploration
Established in 2021 to provide legacy for the B.I.G. Arctic Research Expeditions led by British Polar Explorer, Felicity Aston MBE, The B.I.G. Foundation aims to promote the ethos of inclusive scientific exploration that was exemplified by the project.
In particular, the Foundation wishes to support young women and girls who are overcoming additional challenges to engage in exploration and to promote high quality citizen science within expeditions and adventurous undertakings.
It intends to achieve these objectives through direct grant funding of projects and also by working to achieve greater communication between scientific and exploration communities for the purpose of creating collaborative citizen science projects.
