Grant Funding
The B.I.G. Foundation raises charitable funds from which periodic financial grants will be made to projects, organisations or individuals in any part of the world to support them in achieving worthwhile ambitions and inspiring others.
The Foundation is particularly interested in helping projects and initiatives that reflect the values, aims and inclusive ethos of the B.I.G. (Before It’s Gone) Arctic Research Expeditions. These include: young people (under 25), the environment, STEM, gender equality, issues around diversity and inclusion, education, scientific exploration, adventure and undertakings that promote professional or personal development.
In addition, priority will be given to projects and initiatives that in some way support women and girls who are facing additional challenges in order to engage in scientific exploration, research or adventure. Additional challenges could be socio-economic, mental or physical health, overcoming prejudice or amplifying often marginalised voices such as those from the majority world. Preference is also given to projects which include or promote citizen science.
The Foundation does not currently invite unsolicited applications - applications are by invitation only. This is to ensure that only those the Foundation feels it can meaningfully help will spend precious time and resources making an application.
